The story behind this place

Before the Mongol invasion one of the largest cities in Central Asia, now a settlement site in the Otyrar district of the Turkistan Region. It lies in the lower Arys where it joins the Syr Darya.

Why it's worth visiting

The city Genghis Khan wiped off the map; excavated streets and walls are still visible.
