The story behind this place
A city park in Almaty's Medeu district covering about 18 hectares. Laid out in 1872 by the gardener V. Kreshtopenko as the City Garden. Elm, oak, linden, aspen, maple, poplar, pine and spruce grow here.
Why it's worth visiting
The city's oldest park: the Ascension Cathedral, the memorial and century-old trees on one downtown block.
