The Karaganda corrective labour camp, one of the largest in the USSR, operating from 1930 to 1959 in the Karaganda Region. Its prisoners included Arkady Belinkov, Anatoly Marchenko, Maria Kapnist, Natalya Stolyarova, Anna Timiryova and Alexander Chizhevsky.
